We asked you to share your dog story, and you did!
A lot of dogs overcome adversity every single day. We love stories of redemption and so we recently asked for you to share your story with us.
Irene replied with a rescue story that will warm your heart. Irene and Bo are just beginning their journey together, but things are off to a really good start!
Here is their story…
When I was a kid my brother and I went to a Children’s Home. The house mother put me in charge of walking her aid dog, a Weimaraner named Ghost. Ghost was the best therapy a messed up kid could ever have.
I’ve wanted another Weimaraner again for 40 years.
I considered a Weimaraner puppy and just put that on the back burner because I’m having health issues and I don’t have the energy to train a puppy right now.
But on 7/11/18 I got an email from a breeder in Nebraska that she has a partially trained Weimaraner that I can have.
Bo had an eye infection as a puppy and has vision impairment resulting in some balance issues. The family Bo had been living with needed him in a new home. So off to Nebraska we
went to get my partially trained Weimaraner, Bo (yes – 1084 miles each way – flying there, driving back).
When we got to Nebraska we were told that they were going to euthanize him if we hadn’t come to get him. He’s a big boy and runs into things.
Bo and I sat in the backseat together for 1000+ miles. Bo thinks he’s a lap dog. He’s amazing! He’s a bit skittish with new people and friendly with other dogs. But he isn’t leash trained and we need to walk together. The vet here reports that Bo has scarring on both corneas and needs an Ophthalmologist.
I called AZ Sports before we got out of Nebraska and are working with a trainer which is off to a great start!
Bo is settling in better than I could’ve hoped!
